“Captex”.. Learn about the first “artificial turf” factory in Egypt

Dr. Mohamed Saeed Al-Assar, Minister of Military Production, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, opened this morning the artificial grass factory, which was established by the Ministry of Military Production at the Petrochemical Company for the benefit of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

This comes within the framework of implementing the state’s directions towards paying attention to sports, practicing it, and creating an athletic generation, and to benefit from Egyptian capabilities and raw materials in order to manufacture stadium supplies from artificial turf, which saves the cost of importing it from abroad and saves hard currency.

“Al-Watan” monitors in the following lines the most important information about the first artificial grass factory in Egypt, “Captex”:

* Produced by Heliopolis Chemical Industries Company in the Hayekstep area, one of the companies affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production.

* The establishment of the factory was signed in April 2016 under a protocol between the Ministries of Military Production and the Ministries of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with a German company, “Politan,” which is accredited by FIFA.

* The factory aims to produce the local needs of eastern Egypt, to produce the industrial register stadiums locally in the youth centers and clubs of the Republic, and to export the surplus production abroad.

* The factory is located on an area of 22,500 square meters.

* Production capacity is 2.7 million square meters of artificial turf, and it is planned to increase its production capacity to 5 million square meters of artificial turf.

* The company produces special artificial turf for five-a-side football courts and legal courts, in addition to artificial turf for green surfaces.
